Fault phenomenon: No response when starting.

Cause of failure: The starter motor is damaged. Due to prolonged disuse, the starter motor has rusted internally, causing it to become jammed. As a result, the drive gear cannot return to its original position and continues to rotate along with the engine, leading to overheating and burnout.

Troubleshooting process:

① After arriving at the site, check that the equipment’s engine oil, hydraulic oil, and antifreeze are all within the normal range.

② Turn the ignition switch to ON. The battery relay is functioning normally, but the battery voltage is insufficient. Use an external power source; the engine still fails to start.

③ The positive terminal of the starter measures 24V, and the negative terminal’s ground connection is normal.

④ Turn the ignition key to START and measure 24V across wire #12 to the starter relay. Since there’s no fault in the starting circuit, we can basically conclude that the starter motor itself is defective.

⑤ Upon disassembling the starter, we found that the starter gear failed to return to its original position, and the starter showed signs of burnout, rendering it completely unusable.

⑥ Replace the starter with a new one; troubleshoot the fault.
